The practice

An architecture and interiors practice working continuously since 1996, based in Noida and Aligarh, and building across Delhi NCR and Uttar Pradesh.

Rakesh Parihar

Rakesh has practised architecture in Aligarh since 1996, after moving from Aligarh to Delhi in 1995 and working in established firms. He went fully independent in 2000 and has run the practice on his own since.

The range is deliberately broad: houses and interiors, commercial and institutional buildings, factory buildings and renovations. The thread through all of it is supervision. Drawings that contractors can follow, and an architect who turns up to check that they did. The practice works across Delhi NCR and Uttar Pradesh, with Aligarh as its anchor market, and takes out-of-district drawings and consulting further afield where the scope suits it.

The second principal

Rakesh draws the buildings and stands on the sites. Ishan Parihar is the second principal, and owns the layer that makes the practice legible beyond one person: the documentation standard, the drawings archive, and the visualisation and site-reporting workflow.

That role exists for a reason the practice takes seriously. Every relationship in the book belongs to the generation that first built with the practice, and a thirty-year reputation does not transfer to the next generation on its own. It transfers when there is a second principal the successor can deal with as a peer, and when the drawing standards and the archive are written down rather than held in one head.

How we work

The fee depends on the scope of your project, so it is settled with you rather than published here. What is published is the structure: what you receive at each stage, and what triggers the next payment.

Consultation

We look at the site, hear what you want to build and what it is for. You get a clear view of what is possible on the plot and what the work involves.

No payment. This stage is how we both decide whether to proceed.

Presentation drawings

The design put on paper: plans, elevations and the layout as we propose to build it. This is the drawing set you react to.

An advance is taken against this stage. It is what covers the drawing work before it is done.

Working drawings

The drawings the contractor builds from: dimensions, levels, sections, details and the specification.

Released once the presentation drawings are signed off and the stage payment is made.

Structural drawings

Coordination of the structural design with our architectural drawings, prepared with our structural partner where the structure requires it.

Where the project needs it. Not every project does.

MEP services drawings

Electrical, plumbing and services layouts coordinated against the structural and architectural drawings, so the services do not fight the building.

Released before services work starts on site.

Site supervision

The principal supervises the site through construction, checks the work against the drawings, and meets you at the site as the build progresses. In the district that is twice a week; for a project further out the visit schedule is agreed before work starts.

Staged through the construction period. Site visits are built into the fee for the supervision window the engagement defines; site-visit charges apply after it ends.

Closure

A final review against the drawings, a record of the finished building, and the handover file for your own records.

The final stage payment settles the engagement.

What you are actually getting

Three commitments that hold on every project, whatever its size.

01

A reply within 48 hours

Every enquiry reaches Rakesh directly. If the project is a fit, you hear back within two working days.

02

Drawings you can build from

Working drawings, then structural and MEP drawings where the project needs them, detailed enough that a contractor does not have to guess.

03

The architect is on site

On site in person through construction. In and around Aligarh that is twice a week; for a project further out the visit schedule sits inside the fee for the supervision window. Either way, deviations get corrected at the point they happen rather than at the end.

In the journal

The practice writes about its own work: how the method was built, what thirty years of it has produced, and what the record counts.
