What was built

An L-shaped school building, 70,000 sq ft inclusive, with a centralised reception, waiting, conference and counselling area at its front. Behind the academic block the plan holds the games: football, basketball and badminton courts with a separate kids play area. The L-shape is the planning fact; it lets the building front the road and turn its private side to the courts.

Drawings and renders

The practice’s own design material for this project. These are drawings, models and renders rather than photographs of the building as it stands, and they are labelled as what they are.

How an engagement like this runs

An institutional engagement runs on two calendars: the academic one and the construction one. Presentation drawings resolve the campus logic, gates, movement and the block that keeps working; working drawings and structural follow block by block; supervision is phased so occupied wings are never closed for cosmetic work. Payment stages align with the committee funding cycle.

This is the practice’s standing method for the type, not a claim about this project. The stage sequence and payment triggers are on how we work.

Where this record stands

The practice’s archive is being documented project by project. For this entry, the record holds location, year, scale, the recorded brief, the design drawings and renders; still to be documented are photographs from the practice archive, the client consent that allows story and photographs to publish.

This type of work

Schools, colleges and institutes, including buildings kept running while construction proceeded.
